Its grain is fine and fibres are straight.  Growth rings are differentiated, the spring area is much wider and lighter in colour than the summer area.  The sapwood and heartwood are not clearly defined and often as the Beech gets older the heartwood turns brown. It is characterised by its warm colour and natural wood appearance.
