Usually a rich chocolate brown with marked black veining, Wenge veneer can vary in darkness. The wood is heavy and coarse textured but when finished the surface has a striking and attractive appearance.  Quarter cut produces a very tight and straight grain and can often have small white marks within the grain.

Wenge is used in modern furniture making and for panelling and other architectural interior decoration.
